9 Herbal Home Remedies for Wrinkles: Causes, & Treatment

Ageing is inevitable and everyone has to go through it. Wrinkles are just a sign that you’re ageing. Although you can’t be immortal and stop the ageing completely, there are ways you can reverse its effects.

Some people start ageing faster than others, this can be due to exposure to sun, stress, hormonal problems or simply loss of moisture or collagen. 

There are many over-the-counter medicines that can make your skin glow and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Most of these products are recommended by doctors to increase collagen levels in your skin to prevent ageing.

While you consume these medicines or supplements, it is very essential that you take care of your skin at home on your own too.

You may consider using traditional herbal home remedies, massaging your skin or simply doing a facial. There are so many products available in the market: face mask, face pack, skin food, face cream, moisturizers, peels, sunblocks and acne controllers.

Most products are effective only when you take care of your skin. Hence, you should follow some of these herbal home remedies for wrinkles. 

1. Basil Pack

Basil is called holy basil for a reason. Everyone has started to understand the importance of growing a basil plant in their homes.

The leaves of this plant are magical and so effective in treating skin diseases, cold and cough and many digestive disorders. When applied topically, the leaves can have an anti-ageing effect on your skin.

To prepare a basil face pack, you need some Fuller’s Earth or Multani Mitti which is a clay used to detoxify the skin layers and bring out a glow. 

Basil leaves consist of vitamins and minerals that are vital for younger-looking skin. You may even add basil leaves to your green tea, salads, vegetables or simply wash and chew two leaves every morning. It is said to have great benefits for your skin, hair and digestive health.

2. Giloy or Guduchi

Guduchi is known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Studies suggest that consuming this herb on a daily basis or adding it to your face packs can tighten and uplift your skin. It has great healing properties too.

In case, you have acne-prone skin, consuming Guduchi or Giloy natural supplements can help clarify and detox the skin.

This herb is said to have immunity-boosting properties that promote a healthy digestive system and absorption of essential vitamins and nutrients that enhance the skin glow.

3. Turmeric

Since its gel has a lot of Vitamin E and flavonoids, it can work as an anti-ageing agent for your skin. It naturally tightens your skin and prevents wrinkles.

5. Lemon Juice

The Vitamin C content in lemon makes it the king of collagen. Since most people get wrinkly skin because of exposure to the sun, vitamin C can protect your skin from the harmful rays.

You may apply lemon pack daily or simply massage your skin with a few drops of lemon. Vitamin C in it can boost the production of collagen in the skin. It also helps to clear black and white spots, blemishes and pigmentation.

6. Banana Scrub

Loaded with magnesium and iron, bananas are ideal for a younger-looking face. If your skin has recently started showing signs of ageing, you can stop it immediately using a banana scrub or banana face mask.

8. Coffee

Drinking coffee may have more disadvantages than advantages because caffeine is an addictive substance. 

However, mixing the coffee powder with some coconut oil can hydrate, moisturize, tighten and bring a glow on your skin naturally.

You may use warm coconut oil or olive oil for best results. Massage the paste for a few minutes, let it rest on your skin for a few minutes and wash it off.

9. Cucumber

As cucumbers have lots of antioxidants, they can prevent wrinkles and sag. It is very helpful in keeping acne and blemishes away too.

You can simply put some slices of cucumber on your skin or apply mashed cucumber on your skin for best results.


Consuming green leafy vegetables and increasing intake of fresh fruit juices can provide extra hydration to your skin.

When you grow older, your skin needs to remain more hydrated. By adding greens to your diet, you’re providing a very healthy source of antioxidants which will naturally help your skin produce more collagen than before. Changing your diet can show results within a month or two.
